Cup by Yamane Seigan

This turquoise cup comes from Yamane Seigan’s kiln, known for a distinctive ao-Hagi (blue-Hagi) glaze — a departure from the milky pinks and greys most associated with the tradition. The glaze pools into a rich, sea-glass green over a fine, dense crackle, deepening in tone where it gathers thicker near the base.

The exposed foot ring, left unglazed in classic Hagi style, shows the pale stoneware body underneath — a quiet signature of the technique. As with all Hagi ware, the crazing is porous by design: the color will shift subtly with years of use, taking on the soft patina collectors prize.
