A hand-thrown teacup from master potter Yamane Seigan, showcasing the soft, layered glazework that defines Hagi-yaki. Deep indigo pools beneath a milky, ash-toned overglaze, breaking into warm ochre where the clay peeks through — a signature of the nanabake (“seven transformations”) quality prized in this centuries-old ware. The unglazed footring reveals the coarse, sandy clay body characteristic of the Hagi region, while the generous handle and wide, gently flared rim make it equally suited to tea, coffee, or soup.
Each piece is wheel-thrown and individually glazed, so color distribution and texture will vary slightly — no two cups are alike.
