Matcha bowl by Yamane Seigan

A serene Hagi-yaki matcha bowl (chawan) by Yamane Seigan, characterized by the understated elegance typical of the Hagi ware tradition. The bowl has a gently rounded form with slightly flared rim and rests on a modest, hand-shaped foot (kodai).

The surface is coated in a soft milky beige glaze with subtle white flowing patterns that cascade irregularly along the body, creating a natural, organic rhythm. Fine iron speckles emerge through the glaze, revealing the earthy character of the clay beneath. The glaze pools slightly around the lip and foot, producing delicate tonal variations from warm cream to pale ivory.
