Organic-Edge Bowl by Yamane Seigan

An irregular, hand-shaped vessel with a softly undulating rim that echoes a leaf or shell form. The glaze work shows the classic Hagi characteristics — a milky, crackled white glaze (kairagi) pooling and receding over an exposed reddish-brown clay body, with warm ochre and moss-toned speckling where the glaze thins. The crackle network (kan-nyū) will deepen with use, a signature trait Hagi ware is prized for — the “seven changes of Hagi” (Hagi no nanabake) as tea slowly seeps into the porous glaze over years of use.
