Tea cup by Dousen Tsuchitani
€38.75
A soft, olive-toned cup from Hagi, Japan's celebrated pottery region prized above all for tea ceremony ware. Tsuchitani Dousen's piece carries the classic Hagi glaze — a muted sage-grey that shifts subtly with the light — over a softly faceted, hand-thrown body with gentle dimpled indentations pressed into the clay while still soft.
Fine "kannyu" crackle lines run through the glaze, a signature trait of Hagi ware that develops naturally in the kiln and deepens with age and use, part of the "nanabake" (seven transformations) Hagi pottery is famous for.
Traditionally used as a soba choko for dipping cold soba noodles, this cup doubles beautifully as a yunomi for everyday tea — equally at home holding hot sencha or cool mugicha.
Not suitable for dishwasher, oven and microwave
