Yunomi or teacup by Taizan Kiln

This Hagiyaki yunomi from the Taizan kiln, in Japan embodies the quiet elegance that Hagi ware is loved for. The cup features a soft, mist-like glaze in pale grey-white tones, shifting gently across the surface with subtle natural gradients. Along the lower half, the glaze thickens into raised, flowing drips — a signature Hagi aesthetic created during the kiln firing, where the glaze melts and pools organically.

The piece rests on a warm, unglazed clay foot (kodai) that reveals the iron-rich Hagi clay beneath, offering a beautiful contrast between the earthy base and the cool, clouded glaze. The slightly irregular rim and gentle cylindrical form give it the tactile charm of handmade craftsmanship.
